YOU’RE A DIRTY LOLLIPOP! - Scary
Rush Limbaugh, you are the biggest (figuratively and literally) damn misogynistic pig I know of in the media sphere, pushing a violent anti-women discourse and being extremely loud as though that will cover up your lack of research or fact checking. In this installment of You’re a Dirty Lollipop, the misconception that is perpetuated is downright sexist and scary.
Limbaugh equated a college student who wants to have her birth control covered a “slut” and a “prostitute.” Why? Becuase by the government paying for her birth control, they are paying for her to have sex. Disregard the medical fact that birth control can be used for other reasons, such as to help girls who have irregular periods or who are underdeveloped, etc.
Using Limbaugh logic (a.k.a. no logic at all), lets all assume that girls on birth control are sluts, and that all those sluts whose birth control is covered by the government are therefore prostitutes.
Uhm, what the fuck???
Rush Limbaugh, you’re a misinformed, dirty fucking lollipop.

To My Fellow Feminists:
Fellow feminists, you know how we love witty humor, right?! Yes, we feminists can be funny (shocker). In posting a funny, pro-feminist political cartoon on my blog (below this post), it quickly stirred up some very anti-feminist comments from fellow tumblrs.
Read these ignorant comments here (click click)
I felt compelled to respond, for the sheer fact that an unfortunate misunderstanding of feminism is usually behind anti-feminist sentiments.
I think it is important to not always be surrounded by like minded, kick-ass, strong-ass individuals and fellow feminists all the time. When confronted with individuals whose lack of feminist understandings is so apparent, it is good to be reminded that there is clearly still a lot of work to be done. Furthermore, it’s good practice; explaining feminism and humanism 101 every now and then is a nice little refresher.
Regardless:

Don’t be a chicken, ladies
Because a woman taking heed of this instruction rather than of her own judgement is the better model of a feminist?
Feminists: Dictating what women should be doing since men stopped doing so.
Why worry about making your own decisions when you have the matriarchy to guide you?
… Well they’re right, conservative women vote against their best interests. Recent news is enough to prove that.
OU, backlashing against feminism?! How original! MOVING ON…
Given the present GOP discourse of being extremely anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-choice, it is hard not to see humor and validity in this political cartoon. From Santorum to Romney, the GOP of today isn’t focused on being fiscally conservative like the GOP of the past. Today’s GOP wants “family values,” traditional gender roles, no reproductive rights, no marriage equality, and a government so small it could fit in your uterus, because clearly regulating uteruses makes more since for government involvement than regulating oil drilling and the like, right?!
This is not instruction, this is a political cartoon (chill pill). There is a difference; an instruction would be telling women what to do, whereas this being a political cartoon shows a funny twist on current social issues. FEMINISTS CAN BE FUNNY?! THEY CAN HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR?! OMGZ!!
Feminism is not about patriarchy versus matriarchy. Feminism is about humanism. Feminism is about the kyriarchy of racism, sexism, classism, social status, religion, etc. To be so foolishly misinformed as to equate feminism to women telling other women what to do is almost more humorous than this political cartoon! I won’t even delve into how insulting feminism is a slap in the face to the women who fought for your right to share your ignorant opinions in a public space in the first place!! But hey, feminism isn’t about dictating to other women; if you want to have opinions that make you sound foolish, that is your right! Because thanks to feminism, women have the right to a voice, and even if the intelligence factor behind that voice isn’t present, it’s still a voice :)
No, you can’t deny women their basic rights and pretend it’s about your “religious freedom.” If you don’t like birth control, don’t use it. Religious freedom doesn’t mean you can force others to live by your own beliefs.
Don’t be a chicken, ladies

Way to go Maryland! The bill has already been passed by the legislature, and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (Democrat, of course) has promised to sign the bill into law.
